Payne Family Vacation

Just the two girls went with us on this trip -- driving up the coast with countless cars full of Paynes...We dubbed ourselves the 'Bud Sprouts', since Bud did all the prep, and was a Scout Master. Each family had an informational notebook for every mile of site-seeing, up and back. It was a trip to remember - down to the matching t-shirts.

This was big for our family too. Before he could leave out the door with his luggage, Grant and Ben had claimed his room and were already moving in. That's what happens when the big brother leaves...

In the Los Angeles Temple --the best place to begin our life together. We had each waited a long time to find one another. My children were calling Steve 'Dad!' the minute he proposed to me, and shouted the same as we came out the temple doors after our ceremony. If you listen carefully, the first song on our blog ,"Always", tells our story best.

Now this is nice photo. While they are all great looking, he is the cutest one in a bow tie; who would eventually grow to be the tallest. He also has two adorable younger twin sisters ,not in this photo, or in their lives yet. I need to find a photo with them too.

My Precious Family

Here I am as a little toddler with my handsome parents and two older sisters. This juat might have been taken at the same park where our thrifty Dad 'borrowed a few plugs of grass' from. All the rest of his days, my parents were very please with the St. Augustine carpet that surrounded the generous yards of our home. Years later, my dad armed with his metal detector, we found lots of buried treasures therein.

My first home

This is the house that my wonderful father built in 1948, and in which I grew up. We had bountious trees and and lots of green grass -- grass that my Dad had replanted from Arroyo Seco Park, 'so it was very hardy' he would say. Our favorite thing to do in the evenings after dinner was to go out and play catch with a softball as a family on the side yard, which is not visible.
